This is the quintessential sourdough loaf. "Batard" is fancy for loaf, and refers to the shape--it's not round. This 100% bolted flour loaf is a great all-purpose bread and can be enjoyed for sandwiches, French toast, or just toasted with cultured butter. However you choose to enjoy it, the country sourdough batard is anything but ordinary.
